Yep.. Redneck Mechanix Team was in FULL force today TNT In Round Rock and myself have been going over ideas on building a custom cover to fill the void between the toolbox and the stacks.. After weeks of figuring out the best idea and some spur of the moment light bulbs.. It all came together
Using a sheet of Treadbrite Diamond Plate, Aluminum Angle, Bolts and Marine Trim for Boat Compartments, we were set to work!
We spent the morning drawing out the template for cutting, then with some Redneck ingenuity, TNT went to hack with the Jigsaw.. I must say, it came out 100x better than we imagined.. We used Angle Aluminum that was left over to run the length of the Diamond Plate to strengthen it, it's pretty much rigid now. Also used the Angle Aluminum on the front of the bed and the side to create a plate for the Diamond Plate to sit on and bolt to.. The Diamond Plate was set in completely flush with the top of the bed.. We also had the Plate cut to slide underneath the toolbox, there is a lip on mine that from the inside of the box, we were able to put in 5 Screws to pull the Diamond Plate and secure it to the back of the toolbox. Made the entire section completely stable. You could probably stand on it without it bending.
Stainless Screws were used on the top of the Cover.. the Galvanized bolts were used on the Angles to attach them to the bed.. Be kinda hard to hit them with water.. Plus Galvanized is a rust resistance coating

If you used stainless on top then you should be fine. The EPDM washers on the galvanized (zinc coated) screws on the bottom should help separate the dissimilar metals and minimize galvanic corrosion down below.
