Well I currently make 61K and the wife 81K...I would go down to 42K with the new job; however the insurance 580.00 less, lack of union dues (100+/month), the new truck plus expenses, and average bi-annual bonuses of 5-10%, make up for a little of the loss.
just a quick question, why did you leave in the 1st place? was the grass greener, or were you somehow disatisfied? just dont want you to go back and suddenly have a realization with a memory flashback. it does seem as though the new boss has a real interest in you, and appreciation for some of your skills. Dan
I left to try something totally different that I had wanted to do...teach high school...lol...the old and maybe soon to be new again is in agricultural consulting.
I left because it was something I wanted to try and by that time several of my friends and wife were teaching and they pushed and pushed and I relented...I have enjoyed it until the last two years...its gone way down hill and unfortuantly I'm very vocal about their problems...
we had a new principal for one semester until she pointed out that the district was breaking multiple state laws and that over 80K had been "re-routed" illegally and went missing...they fired her within a week...she filed a law suit and won, in fact the district i work for has 4 current lawsuits pending by former employees, including my friend.
well in that case i say the heck with the money, i mean the beneis are picking up a chunk of the loss. go back to something you really like and they appreciate you. Dan
Just my .02 worth here. You only live once, and you'll spend a lot of that living time at work. Might as well have a job doing something you enjoy, eh?
Right now, my wife makes...well, we'll just say significantly more than I do. I'm okay with that, because when we got married the preacher said "And now you are one." More importantly than who earns the most, is the fact that we're both happy with what we do. She likes going to her office and working out complex issues and working on contracts, I like driving my company van to all our different customers and repairing their forklifts.
If you can take the financial hit and be okay, I say go for the job change. You kow that you enjoy it, the current CEO seems to really want you back, and before too long you'll be back to or exceeding your current pay rate. Dont forget, with gas bumping 3.50 a gallon, the company vehicle and fuel card means a lot, too.

With all of that carp, just get the heck out!!!
If you don't like it leave!!! Come on who are you kidding? Get out do what makes you happy and have a good life.

Yep!...I want to do that and am working to secure another spot else where before I tell them "bye", but I want to have that.
I have been offer 3 other teaching jobs, but with such severe buget cut backs here in education state wide I'm not sure that would be a wise route to go...might be in the same boat next year...its easy to keep the teaching credential, but not the licenses in ag industry...like I said before the loss of vacation is what bothers me and my wife more than the money.
