Error Codes w/o Check Engine Light ????

Is it possible to have error codes on the system without the check engine light being on. It comes on when first cycle the key, but thyen goes off while turning the truck over.

2000 7.3, 6spd, cc 4x4

Some one else should chime in but I believe it may be a soft code, or maybe just an intermittent problem

Yep, "soft" codes trigger without setting off the SES light. I have two that constantly trip on my truck due to modifications I've made.

What codes are you seeing?
