WTS light

i been thinking (it gets dangerous). i have always been told that you'd burn out your glow plugs if you dont wait on WTS light. but, they cycle even after start-up. so, how can it hurt to jump in and start er up without waiting?

well, ya know it makes sense it wouldnt hurt if it keeps on working after you turn the truck on. i thought that they were only on while the light was on, and that starting without waiting would make them be burning and them burning plus engine runnin would bur em out. but, i then realized many moons ago that they stayed on after start, so it couldnt really hurt.

If you don't have to wait, what's the light for?

The wait is because when it's cold out... the GP's need to energize and get the air nice and hot. If you truck has already been running a while, chances are everything is hot enough already and it's not nessicary to wait

The gps stay on for two mins after you turn the key. Watch the battery gauge. It will jump to the middle after two min.

Actually I believe it is determined how long they stay on my oil temp, but I'm sure it's not a set, 2 minutes. I always watch my gauges after start up. Sometimes long, sometimes not at all. But I may be wrong about the oil temp. But something tells it weather or not the motor is warm.

it wont hurt anything, the wts light is just a dummy light, when its realy cold out neer or below 0 ill wait a good 30-40 seconds after the wait to start light goes off, and the glow plugs stay on even after the engine has started. i dont realy look at the wait to start light, i just wait according to how cold it is when im walking to my truck. although i find myself waiting to start when i get in a gasser as well

WTS lamp is completely independent of the gp system.

air intake sensor is for ebpv actuation only, has no other function in or model year trucks, the oil temp is what determines gp on time
