Is it true that all of the F100 hoods are interchangable and fit?
I have a 56 and was told that the back of the hood should have a few rounded carrage bolts in the back mid center line. The hood I have does not have this. So do I have the wrong hood and is there any shape difference from an original 56 hood??
The 53-55 hoods are identical. The 56 hood is ALMOST exactly the same. The 56 has the two carriage bolts either side of the center rib at the rear crossmember for added stiffening. I also heard that the holes for the hinges are a bit larger, but other than those two things (and the badging), they all interchange.
I have four hoods, two from 56 f100, one from a 56 f600 and one from a 53 f100. The only hood that had the carriage bolts was the one from the 53, I've mentioned this in previous posts with no response, could there have been a difference between the trucks built in the US as compared to the ones in Canada. I would also add that the hoods all the way up to the F-660 will fit the F-100. Please do not take my statements as arguementive it's just that my observation has been the opposite as stated. Friends??
All 56's have the carriage bolts, Once the 56 style hoods were in production, they were the replacement hood for the 53-55's. The 56 hood Part number B6C came drilled for the front hood emblem but not the side emblems. depending on the model year truck it was going on it had to be drilled for those model year emblems.
Can someone show a picture of the top and inside of the carrige bolt reinforced portion?
Wondering if it is a metal piece that can be made ..so I can make mine look stock with adding this detail.
