I posted this in the differential forum but got minimal response, I am looking to updgrade to some 4.10's on the cheap for my 94 F150 4x4, can i get the front differential from an F250 with a Dana 44 and swap it into my 1/2 ton Dana 44? I don't recall seeing many F150's with 4.10 gears stock. Thanks in advance.
Yes you can. From the spindle out is where the axles differ, so you can either swap the outer parts over after swapping the whole axle, housing and all, or you can tear down your axle and use the center section from the F-250 Dana 44.
You can't use the F-250 housing because it's leaf sprung. Your F-150 uses coils. So you have to tear your axle down, pull the axle shafts (replace u-joints if they're old/questionable) and swap center sections.

That would also keep you from having 8 lug wheels on front and 5 lugs out back (unless you swapped for an F250 rear also). I would do as andym said though.
