351 4v or aussie?

which is better for low end torque? I have read in these boards about some people rebuilding 400's with both the 351 4v closed chambers and others going with aussies. I hope that this is not a stupid question; I am new to this motor head stuff and i have a '79 bronco that is dead and rusting away and i want to revive it into a hoss torque monster but i only want to do it once! Thanks for the patience.

THe Aussies are the way to go for low end power. There are about 4 or 5 sets on ebay now.Thinking about bidding on a set myself!

IF you can get yourself a set of Aussie heads then I'd use them over the 4V heads. with the 4V heads you have to be up in the Rpm's( Above 5000 ) to get the usefulness out of them.

Shazam - I too am a fan of the Aussie's and have a set waiting to be machined. ...but I've always wondered if the added cubes of the 400 may make the 4V heads beneficial at lower RPM's since they should have ~15% higher port velocity at a given RPM. Thoughts?

the aussies on ebay, are they the right size? Are there different sizes? The ebays are 58.4 cc, would this be the ones i need for my 351m to 400 transformation? Is $315 for these heads a good deal? Thanks again for the enlightenment, ford gurus!

There was only ever one version of the closed chamber 2v heads, so if they haven't been machined they will all have the same size chamber.

Yes - that is a very good price and they are the heads you want. Got mine for about $340 and they had been cleaned and magnafluxed. Shipping is typically $60 to $80...

I purchased the same heads from the same guy in NC. Shipping to MD was aroung 55.00. They were perfect! They are on a Modified 351M. I had them machined, 3 angle valve job ported and polished. They bolted right up with no problems. Art
