I just bought a truck with some mods already installed.Cold air intake Monster exhaust and some kind of custom tune. With this purchase I got the Pre-Owned Vehicle Coverage. Now after the dealing is done I think I made a mistake. I think if something goes bad a year from now I will get screwed. I will never be able to prove that this was the way I got it. Any thoughts on this would be help, If everyone agre's with what I'm thinking maybe I can cancel and get some of the money back now instead of thinking I'm ok.
I would go back to the dealer and have them list all that was done on the truck. That way it is documented thats the way the dealer sold it and sold the warrenty also. Not sure if it will work at another dealer for repairs but it might help.
Most of the time any "Pre-Owned Vehicle Coverage" is a rip off. If the sellers didn't make big money from it, they wouldn't be selling it.
Why did you buy a vehicle that you are willing to bet hundreds of dollers that it IS going to break down in the next few months?
Me... I only buy vehicles that I figure only need normal maint. for the next 100,000 miles or so.
I didnt buy a vehicle that I'm beting on it to break down, its like new. It was after I made my mind up on getting it that I was faced with the (what coverage would you like) So I took the two year. Its not the vehicle its the plan I'm concerned with
If you bought a Ford ESP warranty (the only one worth having) then I believe you can cash it in at any time. Prorated of course.
Without getting into the discussion about whether they are a good investment - you already have a 5 year/100k mile warranty on the motor (I'm assuming it's a PSD). Of the mods you mentioned, that's the warranty that might get voided. There are lot's of other things that can go wrong with the truck besides just the motor. So you need to think of the extended warranty with regards to issues other than the motor and consider whether it is worth it to you. Think transmission $$$, differentials $$, ball joints $, wheel bearings $.
