Question for smokers

Have you ever completely and totally used up a disposable lighter?

I'm getting ready to use up one totally. I'm the orginal owner.

It'll be a first. Usually I either lose them or "steal" a pre-owned one from somebody else before I totally use it up.

Anyway...silly thread but this is a big moment in my life...

Not to say that I have.

I use disposables because they don't get stolen as much as zippos do. I still lose alot of disposable & I somehow gain many of them also.

I have'nt purchase a lighter for myself for several months now.

OK this is a bit weird, I do not smoke but have lighters all over the place.
In my trailer, in the garage.....use them to heat shrink tube. The very small ones.
Problem is I never use one up they just seem to dry up.
Something I thought could not happen.

I'm not a smoker, but on the same note, has anyone ever completely used up all the ink in a pen before losing it or giving it away???? In my entire life, I'm not sure I have ever used an ink cartridge from beginning to end. But then again, I don't buy good pens!

Sorry Monsta for getting off course, now back to lighters....

Its rare that I lose one of mine. My problem is trying to get it to light without any fluid in it

Haven't ever "emptied" a disposable lighter, but the flint either wears away or pops out first!
Lost too many to count....

I don't smoke but pick up good lighters when I come across em. Right now I have 5... one of them has marks on it from when I ran over it while sking in Dec 1996. It still works. And one is a Zippo that somebody lost in a park.

I only have the occasional cigar, and dont' use disposables for them anyway...

BUT, when I do use them for fireworks and such, I always end up removing the tops on the adjustable-flame ones and cranking it up, thus producing a 4-5 inch long flame.. As you can guess, the fluid gets completely used up, and fast, too.

I never thought I would empty a pen but about a year ago I started a job in a chemistry lab. I write all day in log books and such and have emptied 4 papermates. I have also emptied 2 bic lighters. (just a few of my noted achievments)

I have used up MANY a disposable lighter, and Many a bic pen I probably go though a bic pen in two days, and a lighter in 3 or 4 days. And go through a keyboard every week. (the keyboard is with the help of two other shifts) Teh pen and lighter are all my own though.

Why do some of you need to justify your response with "I'm not a smoker, but"??? There was nothing here about smoking, just lighters. We all use lighters in the shop. Sometimes even to light a "ciggy" or a cigar. But mostly to light the torch. I guess I am wondering if smoking is becoming so bad that we need to distance ourselves from it because we have a lighter in the toolbox?

I guess I missed this one-sorry. The heading was a "question for smokers". But the premise is still valid. Let's take it to the next level. How many "Non-Smokers" have lighters, and how do you explain it to your friends? Is it the classic "I don't smoke, but---"?

I mentioned this only because to light a cigar with a liquid fuel lighter often gives it a nasty flavor. Even using regular matches does this, due to the sulfur on them. It's best to use a butane lighter.... But I Looooove to play with lighters just for fun, and have emptied many a lighter (usually other people's though...) I own a Zippo because they're so rugged and refillable, and use it when camping or just around the house stuff.

I don't use butane lighters in the shop to light the torch, because if you produce alot of sparks while welding, one may burn thru your pocket and possibly ignite the gas in the (butane) lighter. I DO use a ZIPPO on occasion to light the torch, but that is usually the time that it runs dry and I end up searching for the "sparker". (I have 2 sparkers....somewhere...
