LOL...You didn't care for my assessment of ignition modules, wait till you read my opinion of AOD transmissions. In a word = crap!

STAY OUT of overdrive in heavy stop and go traffic. The constant searching up/down between Drive & Overdrive fries the transmission.

It doesn't take too long for this to happen, either.

Also: Install the largest external trans cooler you can buy.

Don't tow anything with an AOD, either.

I was a Ford partsman for 35 years (1962/97), and the general consensus among partsmen and mechanics was the AOD was the worst transmission Ford ever made (the warranty repair costs were HUGE!).
The AOD is even worse than the A4LD, and that's saying something!

this AOD was my first overdrive trans and was ok for 97k mi probly due to the truck never being loaded or driven off road, how ever the trans was rebuilt twice within 500 mi of engine replacement for a couple screw ups
at this point I have no faith in it lasting

I really had no intentins of leaving the AOD for a long time but since it was there figured I could baby it as the truck has been all it's life and it would last a little while til I could get a C 6

I am always open and interested in educated assessments, without personal experience that's the only way to learn

I see you quoted an example of my typing skills...I posted without correcting the spelling errors, caused by sasquatched sized fingers on a keyboard designed for midgets. I edited, but I see I was too late.

if i need a 50oz flexplate with 10.5' bolt circle and the only one that i can find is a 157 tooth one, am i going to need to get a new starter if my flexplate currently is a 164 tooth one?
