On the drivers side of the engine, under the exhaust manifold, there is a cylinder that runs from the front side of the engine back to where the oil filter mounts. What is this ? Can it leak oil ? If it can leak oil, how do you fix it?
Your not suppsed to powerwash ANY motor compartment. The highpressure forces water into places that were designed to keep moisture out. Dont ever do that again, its a very VERY bad idea. Just for future refrence.
flea and fordforever I found a site that has picture of the oil cooler and a kit you can buy to repair it. powerstrokeshop.com then click on 94/97 powerstroke quick catalog, then click on oil cooler. has a good exploded picture and all the ford part numbers, hope this will help ya'll and anyone else that needs this info.
Yep, all the PSD's have an engine oil cooler.
Here's a couple links for doing a rebuild:
BTW: You need to lift the engine on the driver side to get it off.
Or it can be disassembled in place, very messy job but do-able.
It takes constant pressure to get it back together vs hammering (won't work)
Thanks for the links Jim. Im going to save them for when the times comes. Seems like a lot of work to reseal one of these. Im going to have to do mine place, I dont have an engine lift big enough to raise the 7.3.
A floor or bottle jack with a 2x4 on the oil pan rail is all you need. Some don't even need to be raised. Mine did and just an inch higher on one side.
