I agree! Did you find out the hard way? I don't like leaving it unlocked while I let it warm-up in the parking lot at work.

I have used the old slidding rear window trick a few times. My old truck did not have one that made it quite interesting.

my dad broke in to a guys old 79 one time through the wing glass to hide it as a joke on a construction site. the guy was always playing jokes so dad used his knife and hid the guys brand new truck in the woods and stacked up brush in front of the truck. the guy found the tracks going to the woods just before hitching a ride to a phone to call the cops

This happens all the time in my field. Is your dad in construction like me?

OIC. dad is almost strictly upper residential. he quit high production work years ago. no one wants to pay anything except on custom homes. he didnt wanna be associated with the crap houses being stuck up around here anyway. what they want to pay will barely cover workers comp!

ok what about the original question? is there a way do make it unlock with the engine running? I always leave my wing window unlocked. as I have no door key.

I don't know if there is a way to make it work but Ford designed it so that if the key is in the ignition it won't let the fob do its thing.

That sucks!
i had a similar experience:
I was going into the local store on the way to work and my truck was not warm. i wanted to treat it right (b/c all my life i've heard that start-and-stop is the worst thing you can do) and leave it running, but i couldnt lock it! aargh!

Tj

Does your truck have anti theft?
Also will it auto lock the doors?

Looks possible to over ride it.
I checked the system and it only has 1 ignition input to the RKE.
Ckt#182, Pin #6 (rke), BR/W. Looks to me if removed it will over ride the remote lockout. But looks as if you will loose the auto lock feature. It does 2 jobs from what i can see. If you have anti theft that sig cycles it also. Dont see an anti theft for 97.

Bill
