ordering motor oil need specs

What are the specs on a '97 F250 7.3 with auto tranny and 4X4?
Is it 16 qts of motor oil?
and what kind of oil is safe?
I am ordering from Amsoil and I think I want the 5w-40.
make it easier to turn in the cold winter air.
It gets down to no less than -5 deg. F. but rarely.
the coldest it has been for more than 1/2 a day is in the single digits.
The summers can be and are often in the triple digits?
Ideas?
By the way I want to run full synthetic. Is there a good filter I should get, haven't looked yet?

So,
Now
Royal purple versus Amsoil
Or the best bang for the synthetic oil buck and filter.
I change oil about twice a year, every 5k miles or so.
I do a lot of city driving.

I vote Schaeffers 9000 5W40. Full sythetic. Seems to be good oil so far. Run it about 2000 miles. There may be other places close to you to buy it but this will give you a good idea.

for oil filters I just use Wix. They are very good. I think the Amsoil EAO are pretty good filter.
