You're probably right - the next time I sit on the crapper I will do math in my head. I thought this would be a fun game to play and I figured I would start off the guessing.....
Probably not many of us up lurking the boards at midnight EST.

The sheet metal is going to be low quality like every other aftermarket cheap sheet metal. I've bought some parts through them that I couldn't find through FTE sponsers, and have been happy.

I have always wanted to try building a truck with parts from a Ford dealer.
You think it would be 4x the price of a new vehicle?

What year would be the oldest truck one could build? 1997 or newer?

So, what, then, is the best sheet metal for these trucks? Can you still get OE Ford body parts?

I met a guy at a swap meet that said he built one from LMC for about 25,000. He has been trying to sell it for that. could not find anyone. the next year it was for sale for 18,000. He bought the whole bed kit, fenders and some major sheetmetal for the cab. plus alother misc. stuff to build a truck. looked very nice and he put some time and effort into it.

It is rumoured that LMC parts come from China, but don't quote me on that.
Custom Chrome motorcycle parts are mostly from China, so I would not doubt truck parts are not.

It is also rumoured that some foreign countries have vintage toolings for old for trucks (sheetmetal), I would say that OEM panels would be the best.

You can get Original Tooling Fenders, but very expensive, around $400-500 per fender. The best thing to do is find used OEM fenders and other sheetmetal with no rust for a lot less money.

I'd knock you across your head for considering a complete built up using LMC parts.

I beleive if you going to play clone; its going to be way more , than its worth using a salavage yard for parts. Lmc is a good source; but I bet its tough to get all panels to align probably.
Lord; 25k dentside? thats' tough to swallow!!!!!
