Water pump pulley

I'd like to experiment with a smaller water pump pulley but I'm not sure if there were diffent ones made. The one I'm using is 6" (total width) with a 2 1/2' setback to the center of the belt. Drive pulley looks to be 6 1/2". Got any laying around to look at?

I put a 4" crank pulley on my Cleveland to slow water pump & alternator down, works great! It's a Moroso part # 64550 ordered thru partsamerica.com.

yeah, I allready have that pulley on. but I need to speed mine up. I made a smaller dia altenator pulley out of aluminum but I don't have big enough round stock to make the water pump one. Moroso has a universal shim kit but I don't see thier universal pulley.

Wow! A blast forom the past. A smaller water pump pulley would turn the pump faster. Thanks for the number.

Factory water pump pulleys come in 6" & 7". I've never seen any other sizes.

There is a good article on water pump performance and modifications in the "Off Highway Operation Parts" newsletter book that is available at the Online Store. The article is in the Dec 1972 issue that is bound in the book.

I was talkin about the crank pulley number. I have an aluminum radiator and was told I could move water faster through it.

I didn't find any smaller than that. Why do you want to speed it up? I slowed mine down for hp savings with the 4" & stock water pump pulley & it still cools ok.

I looked at that page 3 times and only found a 2 groove 5 1/4".

the reason I want to speed it up is cuz the temp will get over 200*f if I sit more than 10 minutes on a hot day.

the stock crank pulley was a huge 8 1/2" dia 4 groove. I replaced that with a 4" 2 groove and removed the stock fan and replaced with an electric one, like you said to save some hp.
I could take 5 minutes of my time and use a smaller wp pulley or take 45 mins and buy a new high flow water pump. the new wp might be a better route to go but it only have about 40K miles on the stock one. either way I need to move more coolant.

Do you have an operating thermostatic clutch unit and an OEM fan shroud?
