speedometer wont work

i have a 89 ford f250 4x4 7.3 with a 5 speed, and my speedometer
wont work. would it just be the cable or a speed contol ???

If you have the trans mounted speedo cable, over time the gears will get chewed up both inner and cable end...... You can get the parts at ford or trans shops. They go by color so take the parts.......or a photo. Is the cable attached to the cluster.....

Was it working before........

i got the truck three months ago and it didnt work. it was unhooked
from the cluster, I hooked it back up and it dont work, it dont
jump or anything...

Are you sure the cable is hooked up at the cluster, they are very finicky and must lock in correctly.
