Hi guys! Going to change the spark plugs & wires on a 99 expedition with a 4.6l eng. What is the correct way to replace the plugs?Torque spec?Should I use anti-seize?Any help or info would be great.I read doing a search that some say to use anti-seize & others don't.Most info was on the 5.4l.Thanks,Dave
the way i usually replace wires and plugs is to pull one wire at a time ,replace plugs ,then replace wire ,and then move on to the next one so not to get confused about where the wires go.i am in favor of using antiseize on the plugs and dioelectric grease on the wires.my manual calls for 84 to 168 inch pounds for torque for plugs.seems kindas broad range for torque speck. anyway good luck
got a???? check engine light came on code says #4 misfire. just put this engine in .. got new spark plugs coil packs are ok .is it possible that i got a bad plug.or u think it could be a plug wire ,,or and i hope not but an injector??? anyone got any ideas?
The book says 7-15 ft-lb of torque; 13 is perfect. Any more than 15 increases the risk of thread stripping due to expansion/contraction of the plug under load.
