First off let me say hello. I own a v10 and am getting ready to help a buddy out with his 05 5.4l. He wants me to help him change the spark plugs out. I have changed the spark plugs on my 04 v10. Can you give me some advise on doing this job? I think this is the year for went to the 2 piece spark plugs. Also what torq setting should I torq them to? Should I also use anti seize with them or no? Does the gap need to be set on the plugs? I dont have a book to go buy. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks

Use the search feature on this forum , and many great tutorials on youtube
on changing the plugs
Prepare for the worst. Go rent that special tools for when you'll need to get broken sparks out.
Spray penetration lube in there, let it seat for 15-20min. Air it out, then spray again.

Well techically you dont want it to get inside of the engine.
How is it going to soften the carbon on the spark plug tip shields , if it doesn't get in the engine ? You're not trying to take carbon off the threads .

Remove coils , spray in some Kroil , wait 5 minutes , turn pugs an 1/8th of a turn, more kroil, wait 10 minutes, turn a 1/4 turn, more kroil, turn 1/2 turn, more kroil, wait 20 minutes, more kroil, take out all plugs, crank engine over to blow out kroil, replace with new plugs,...
Worked like a charm for me, you can search my thread
Have yourself the Lisle tool ready. I only broke 5 out of 8. It wasn't that bad of a job do though.
That is good information , my only preference for Kroil , is that it wicks into the tiniest places , and doesn't dissolve.
I have pics of my plugs in my thread that show the carbon on the shields kind of syrupy showing it didn't dissolve I changed my plugs at 90,000 and only had trouble with one , and I feel that if I had been a little more patient , that one would have been fine.
I lubricated mine with WD40 on my 2004 F-150. Still snapped 4 in half. My best advice is when you change them, go to a one piece. Slightly more expensive but makes changing much easier next time. Plan on spending a lot of time removing the origional ones.
