Thats it, we need to get EVERYONE together....

Yesterday while pullinhg trackhoe and skidloader home from jobsite, I filled my truck up and diesel was 3.35 cents, went out to dinner in the wifes bravada and filled it up, gas was 3.09. TODAY, I go by the station on the way to my shop, DIESEL IS 3.71 cents a gallon, and fuel was 2.88 cents. WTF??????
I say we all get together for a road trip to kick someones azz. This is rediculous. If I known it was going to jump that much, I would have had fuel hauled in again yesterday, and saved 600 bucks. Now, the big trucks empty, the backhoe empty, dumptruck, skidloaders, and track hoe are all empty. I have to start new project on monday. Cost of fuel to even start?? Get this, about 1700 bucks JUST TO LEAVE MY SHOP. This is killing me. i remember just a few short years ago when this cost about 800 for it all and I thought I was going to puke at the pump then. Tell you what else ticks me off, I pull into Valero, which sells diesel here cheaper than anyone else except having it delivered, and they keep shutting their pumps off at 50 bucks. If fuel is 3.71, thats only about 13.5 gallons. THATS JUST A LITTLE MORE THAN A LAWNMOWER!!!!! TRY FILLING UP A PETERBILT 50 BUCKS AT A TIME!!!!
They refuse to just hold my license, its "against company policy" This is just B.S. We have a right to defend ourselves, right now I feel like this is legalized robbery.

I feel your pain- my first ever diesel fuel-up yesterday was 45 gallons and that didn't even fill the tank! I don't know what I paid either (cardlock account) but probably to the tune of $3.55 a gallon. 180 miles away here at home diesel is $3.77 a gallon right now- I'm glad I have 45 gallons of the "cheap" fuel in the truck!

Three words....Home brew Biodiesel!

But until then I feel the pain as well!! We had 3.79 last week already. Needless to say my normal station didn't get my money. I went down the road and was HAPPY (crazy!!) to pay 3.58

The chances of $.60 a gallon are slim as Methanol prices are sky rocketing as well but $1-1.50 should be more realistic depending solely on methanol prices.

ya, 1-1.5 if you dont have methanol recovery... which i plan to do.
My first test batch came out good with 20% by vol. methanol. should recover almost half of that from the glycerine... will letcha know the final price, including labor charges!

I thought about buying a tanker for the big truck, going down to cincinnatti where they sell it by the truck load and just keeping it at the shop until it gets low. I wonder what 45000 lbs of bio equates to as a gallon? I assume that the weight per gallon varies with composition, but it would have to be cheaper than buying it in 800 gallons at a time.

I can't believe they would shut there pumps off at $50 bucks that is stupid!

I am starting to see a lot of contractors adding an extra fee on there invoices here to compensate for the cost of fuel.

our pumps shut off at $100. Still a pain cause I keep track of Mileage on every tank so I run the car again for the $5-7.

Last week 3.49, this week 3.65. Great... pump shuts off at $75, so I fill one tank, stop, get receipt (to track mileage) then fill next tank. Always ticks people off waiting... HEY! maybe they should have pumps that don't shut off at 75... called my bank and I have no limit on card I'm using. Station says it's the card. Card says station. I say take plates off truck... Fill and drive away!

I bought my truck because it was cheeper to run than the previous gas trucks I had before now look LOL
