I have some sort of generic glasspacks on my 74' F-100 302. They have been on for going on 8 years now and are still in decent shape. Even steel mufflers and exhaust will last a long time depending on your driving lengths and habits. My 74' always got warm and was usually run at least 10 miles one way.

A guy I worked with has a Ranger. He put new exhaust on every other year. His commute length was about 1/3 of a mile one way to get to work. I would have walked.

My '84 F150 ate a muffler every two years without fail. I drove that thing 60 miles a day during the week for 5 years, then 30 miles a day during the week after that. I think Michigan winters with all the road salt are very hard on mufflers etc.

Magnaflow hands down, A flowmaster will be deeper, but it will drone like *** in the cab as well. Try running a single 3" straight pipe behind the tire, then if you don't like that add in the Magnaflow. Another I have seen used and people seem to like is the Hooker Aerochamber as the Aeroturbine.
