Muffler suggestion--and source??

I am going to put either a Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler on my 2001 SCREW, w/ a 5.4L

I'm looking for suggestions on a nice low rumble sounding muffler(will do the whole cat back later, just doing muffler right now). Which model of these two will give me a cool tone, but not blow away the neighbors.

Also, what is the best online source for ordering--price AND service.

Thanks!

I was told when purchasing my Flowmaster, that a Magnaflow is extremely quiet.

Not true, I've used Flowmaster and Magnaflow, and the Magnaflow is louder, sounds better, and it's supposed to outflow the Flowmaster as well. The longer the muffler, the quieter it will be. Use the 14" long, round shaped Magnaflow muffler and you will absolutely love it.

I just purchased the Delta Flow 40 Series 3" S/I 2.5" D/O #9430402 from Performance Peddler on Ebay $67 shipped to my door. Just bought it today - for my 2001 F150 Supercrew. I'm going to have the ehaust installed to replicate the Lightnings exhuast (coming out passenger side infront of rear tire).

Can't Wait - I'll let you know how it all turns out.

Thanks everyone. I'll check out the peddler!!

BTW, does installing a new muffler only require any welding?

you could weld it or just go to your local parts store pick up a muffler clamp or two and just clamp it up

ok, good stuff. Now, can someone check the part number for me? I think I need either a 14250 for stainless, or 12286 for alumanized(Magnaflow). Anyway I can double check those part numbers for a 2001 SuperCrew 4x4???

i have a 2001 screw 5.4l and just replaced the stock muffler with a flowmaster 50 series suv/performance. It sounds good, but it's pretty quiet. I would decribe it as low and mellow. I got it from summitt, and had it installed (spot weld with clamps) for $50.
