hey does anyone know what year ford trucks came with a stock locker or limited slip diff?? Iam going to go to the junk yard and try to find a locker. oh I have a ford 9"....arent there a couple 79s that came locked up? what about cast numbers? anyone know anything about this? Iam just trying to fnd an easier way to find a locker than going around and seeing if the tires rotate the same way....anything would be appreciated!
even if you just tell me iam a lazy ***...i know haha
There wasn't a specific year that did or didn't come with a limited slip. Ford stopped making the 9" in 1985, and any axle in a junkyard is going to have a lot of miles. The first thing you'll need to do is rebuild the clutches.
Look for an 'L' on the differential tag in place of the decimal. 3L50 would be a 3.50 gear set with a limited slip. Make sure you get the same ratio that you have now unless you plan on changing the front ratio as well.
