When I get on it it feels like something is holding it back it lacks the snap it use to have.I also was getting 11mpg on winter blend with the 6inch lift,35 and every tank I use the ford additive.Iam down to 9mpg in like a weak city driving. The oil is changed every five thousand with rottela T 15w40 and ford filters the fuel filters are changed every other oil change the truck has 27,000 miles. What should I check.

In my 6.0 when it gets a little sluggish I check the oil first (course i got a habit of checking it everyday anyway) usually it is diluted with diesel and has "too much oil" in it so I change the oil. And "Presto" runs like a spotted ape. You didn't say what you were driving, I assumed (I hate that word) it was a 6.0. Welcome to FTE. Some of these Guru's will come along and chime in there are some very intelligent folks on this site and they will probably be able to help you.
Could be a sticking turbo (very common on these engine). The vanes in the turbo gum up or rust up and the turbo vanes either lag in their open/closing or stick all together. Could also be a lack of fuel pressure(fuel filters/fuel pressure regulator). Restricted air flow? Misfire?
One of the times that my power and mileage both went down it was an Egr issue. I was seeing more black smoke outta exhaust also. Dealer took care of it, under the "emissions" warranty.

Same here... Performance and mileage went south on my old '03 F350. Took it in for a check-up. 1 MAP sensor, 1 EGR valve and 1 flash later (all under the 5/100) and the show was back on the road. Take it in if you have any warranty left.
Did you lose any mileage with that updated flash? I think mine has one of the original flashes, hasn't been in to the shop since early 2006 according to the Oasis report. With the good mileage I'm getting I don't want to chance messing it up.
thanks for the help. Last time I was aware that it got flashed was for the emissions recall thats was three months after I got the truck. the trucks been good except for this and that annoying oil leak at the bottom of the bell housing nobody can find it doesn't drip just wet. Ill get it to dealer and after that if they cant find anyting Ill give it a good service.
When there is an updated software for a module(generally pcm), the EEPROM memory within the PCM can be "reflashed" or reprogrammed to that more current software. Generally it is to correct a glich in the old software. The old software is erased, and the newer updated version is downloaded. With diesels, this generally means reprogramming the TCM and FICM as well....

If you're oil level is rising it's because of fuel (as you stated). What that means is you most likely have a damaged or cut O-ring on one or more injectors that is allowing fuel to get into your oil system. This was a common problem with the early 03 motors but I haven't seen any posts about "rising oil level" in quite some time. This is what Slowmans was alluding to. And no, this problem would not cause smoke. I'd get it checked out.
