Before you assemble the lynch mob and head for OR, NO I did not buy one of those "other" brands. I did, however, buy one of those "other" body styles. Honestly I'd rather have had an OBS, but the deal was just too sweet to pass up:
She's a 99 F250 PSD, auto trans with 163K on the clock. Normally I would have turned away from a truck with this amount of miles, but this truck is unbelievably nice! Interior is almost 100% perfect, and the exterior is about 90% perfect. The seats don't feel broken down at all. Heck, even the inside of the bed was in really good shape! It runs and drives like a truck with 100K less miles on the clock- I was shocked honestly at how solid it felt. It has newer 285/75/16 BFG All Terrains, a Banks TransCommand (not sure if this is a good thing or not), and a K&N filter (which is destined for the trash to be replaced by a 6637) but is otherwise stock.
Now, be sure you're sitting down for this part- I picked up this beauty for $12K- out the door. Retail is about $16.5K on average. I'm pretty stoked- just got home from the 3 hour ride home from where we bought and it purred all the way home. I LOVE listening to the turbo! I hope I don't regret buying a short box, but if worse comes to worse I'm almost certain I can turn a profit on this truck and get a long box (maybe even an OBS ) I'm stoked, already suffering from PMS, and can't wait to see what kind of potential I can unleash out of this basically stock motor.
Interesting note- I almost hemmorhaged when I pulled to the pump to fuel up for the drive home. I was expecting a 30-35 gallon fill, the fuel light was on when I took it for a test drive, salesman put 5 gallons in for the test run and the gauge barely moved. Gave it a run through last night and finalized the deal today. When I fueled up, I shut the tank off at 45 (yes, 45!) gallons because I couldn't take it anymore- this thing has some crazy huge aftermarket tank on it! The gauge showed full (not sure how much longer it would have taken to top off) and didn't move even a tiny bit until 130 miles into the trip. I stuck my head underneath to check it out, and the tank extends from the back of the front doors to infront of the rear tires- no stopping for fuel even on the long road trips with this one!
If you still feel the need to kick my @$$ I'll start issuing numbers
No kicking needed! I would have done the same thing! great find!! Have fun with it!!! you already have half the mods I have and you haven't touched a thing!
Hey man congrats on the new truck!!!! I don't think anyone is going to run you down as long as you stick around the OBS threads some... and give me your Intercooler haha just kidding. Definatly a good price! Dump that stock exhaust and get some 4" on that rig!!!
STAND PROUD. nice truck. but, honestly champaign isnt my favorite color, but i wouldnt let color keep me from buying one and being dang proud of it. NICE TRUCK
Nice looking truck. What is that thing with the cord just left of the steering wheel? I got a funny feeling the you ran across this little beauty before you got to the bay area. Right??
nice truck great price. i would have picked it up too for that price. definate resell for a long box tho. but i use all 8 ft of the bed. if you dont then its YOUR preference because at the end of the day its YOUR truck and YOUR money...

Yes. I was real close to making the 6 hour trek to the Bay area but didn't want to get down there and be disappointed. I lined up about 6-7 to look at in "the big city" (Bend, OR) and the family and I (2 kids and a wife) made the 3 hour trek yesterday. Looked a few (even a few gassers!) that everybody thought were plated in gold- $2-3K overbooked and nothing spectacular. Found this beauty just before the stealerships closed down- it was only there for the day and believe it or not, they had 1-2 tire kickers check it out before I got to it- I was lucky!

Not sure what is stock for the truck, but the exhaust looks to be 3.5-4" and has that kind of hollow drone of an aftermarket setup. Tailpipe appears stock though, maybe I'm just not used to the sound of a Super Duty.
Nice looking truck. Congrats. I just have one question. Is that a phone on the dash next to the steering wheel?
It has that "phone" on the left of the steering wheel and a cell phone holder on the right, as well as a speaker under the dash, a microphone at the top of the driver's side A-pillar, and an antenna... all of which will be promptly removed tomorrow. Sirius satellite radio hopefully going in at the same time
Absolutely a good call Chase. Sweet truck. A real nice buy for the $$ and it's a 7.3l PSD! I am still going to check on the truck in Richmond if I can arrange it with the owner. I have business in that area the next few months so it'll break things up at some point. I have family in Sun Valley and Hood River. I'll let you know when the White Bison is coming thru.

Are you talking Sun Valley, ID? I'm not aware of a Sun Valley in OR but it wouldn't surprise me if there was one somewhere. I really appreciate your offer to take the time to go and look at that truck in Richmond for me even though it didn't work out. It's amazing sometimes that guys (or gals) you've never met will go out of there way to help you out. Speaking of, I want to pay a big THANK YOU to Hussler as well for taking time out of his day on Friday to go check on a 97 PSD that he found for me close to his home turf. Even though it's not an OBS at least I stuck with the 7.3L, right?
Next time you are up this way give a shout, we've got an extra room if you need to crash for the night or maybe we could just head to town and enjoy some fermented beverages
