I'm surprised the filter sock makes that much difference... I'll still be going for the 6637, cheaper (at least in the short term). I could not believe the dust past the filter on this truck I bought- tried to pull the intake to check the turbo but needed a ratchet and didn't have one so I took my chances... hopefully that won't kick me in the @$$ down the road.

I just keep the sock clean, the filter lightly oiled, and I take a good look inside every now and then especially if I go off-road or into a dusty job site. The K&N kit as well as the turbo were relatively new when I bought the truck two years ago. I have put 35k miles on it since then and figured I'd get what I could out of it (FTE has made me more paranoid/cautious tho). Anyone know if the wix filter will bolt up to the FIPK/fit in the box?

There is no truth to the CCV lubing the turbo. Not one chance. It completely internally lubed. The only thing your CCV lubes is the intake boots that can then leak at high boost! Not good!

MTNWOODY looking foward to your to your pics as I want to do the same thing!

I'm between Calistoga and Clear Lake in Middletown.

I am going to install this as soon as I can make time...I have posted pictures of the nipple and valve in my gallery. Where should I place the nipple and how should it be oriented? I am thinking of finding a placement post turbo, maybe bottom of DP If I can get the hose down there. I would assume the mitred or slash side of the pipe nipple would face the exit direction. It looks like it could create quite a whistle if oriented wrong...don't want that.

yes it must be installed post turbo then I have heard a few guys do this. take you piece of pipe and cut the end at a 45*. Then weld the pipe into the exhuast at a 45* angle so that your end of the pipe is at a 90* facing straight back. Don't face the opening into the exhuast flow or you will pressurize the CC. Facing it toward the back will create a venturi in theory suck the fumes out.
