E4OD or C6

What was the first year with the E4OD and what is the whole year or part way through? I was looking at an 89 with "auto" tranny that I was curious about.

Here's a pic of E4OD. The trans sites all say they have parts/trans for '89 up, so I'd guess '89 is the magic year.

Does the shifter have a button on the end?
Does the shift quadrant read:
P R N O D 1 or similar?

A C6 will be

P R N D 2 1

No button on end of shifter.

'89 was the first year for the E4OD. The C6 was available until the end of '96.

The first few years of E4OD had the button on the dash, not on the end of the shifter.
