I'm not so sure that's the same kinda thing, especially when it states "no cutting, stripping, crimping or rewiring. Accepts any charger cord" The unit I used has fairly beefy connection terminals on the back (rewiring?) and is specifically rated at 15 amps. Also, what exactly is a charger cord?
Here's a question for all of you electrically inclined types - a friend of mine has a plug from an RV similar to the one I used here and wants to use it for the block heater plug.
The question is that his plug is rated at 5 amps (mine was a 15 amp plug) and we are not sure if that is suitable for this mod - we don't want it to overheat and catch fire. Anyone know for sure what rating he should use?
Bob, you should be able to get your plug at Cabela's.
NICE WORD! I have been looking to do that. I really want an autject like on our fire trucks
I have seen it installed in the front valence just ahead of the tire, too. This way the black blends in with the grey if you are looking for the undercover look. I will go look for directions to help the guys that have been thinking about this mod. I saw a really decent write up once.
Nice mod ,being an electrician I 've performed quite a few electrical mods to my E series worktruck , I like your RV recepter. I have a 2500 watt inverter tied in with an external GFI receptacle and a battery tender tied in with the block heater input for maximum amps during cold starts

Nice setup. In the larger of my trucks I also have a 2500W inverter, the out put is split via a transfer switch that allows the 110V to come from either the inverter or the flanged inlet mounted to the outside of the truck. It is really helpful on those late night emergency calls.
