Block Heater Cord Mod

I don't know about you but I get tired of looking at that block heater cord hanging out of the front of the bumper looking like an afterthought. I decided to do something about it and bought a 15 amp RV power inlet that I found online ($20 incl. shipping). Details here http://www.dan-marc.com/61-150bbirv.html

I installed the inlet on the front bumper and wired the block heater cord into the back of it. It's fully waterproof front and back and looks much better than the original mess. See my gallery for pics (sorry about the grubby truck - no time to wash it for the pics )

Looks good. I've been wanting to do something along the same lines with my block heater cord.

They have the same one at Bass Pro Shops. Paid $13 there.

You did yours the same method as I did. Mine is on the driver's side of the bumper, instead of in front.

Bob, you should be able to get your plug at Cabela's.

NICE WORD! I have been looking to do that. I really want an autject like on our fire trucks
I have seen it installed in the front valence just ahead of the tire, too. This way the black blends in with the grey if you are looking for the undercover look. I will go look for directions to help the guys that have been thinking about this mod. I saw a really decent write up once.

Actually it was pretty easy and I did it with the bumper in place - just cut a hole in the bumper with a Dremel (the inside of the nut that goes on the back of the inlet is the correct size so I used that as a template). Then cut the plug off the existing block heater cord and connect the wires into the back of the adapter, push it into position and put the nut on from the back. The wire runs along the truck frame right behind the front wheel so is easy to get at - just needed to cut off 2 wire ties in my case.

Took me about 30 minutes.

I couldn't find anything suitable at Lowes or Home Depot - nothing I found had the nice clean look or the waterproof cover on the front that I wanted.

Yeah, there's a lot of options for where you put it - personal preference for the most part.
