door problem

door problem

drivers side door is way out of align. about a inch to low from the pin that locks into the door lock thing. ive tried a few times to realign it but it cant go any higher. there is alot of play when i lifted the bottom of the door up. what could this be? bent hinge?

Or the pin is gone entirely (sheared)

Did the wind catch it?

Yea, most likely you need new door pins. Mine as semi-shot as well. Adjusting the hinges can only help so much.

Replacement hinge pins and bushings are available at most parts stores carrying the "Help" line of aftermarket odds and ends.

I think about 6 bucks apeice.

There should be instructions on the back of the package.
With the bushing kit you will probably need a drill and punch as well.

I replaced the entire hinge because my hold open springs were busted, but I have done the 'pin kit' on chebbies and vans.

Oh, You'll need a floor jack or some other way to prop the door up too

I cut my pins in the middle with a Dremel with a "Tuff-Grind" wheel on it.
Then tapped them out.

I was @ the auto parts today and noted the p/n for the "HELP" (dorman) brand Ford hinge pin kit is #38410
