From what i can make of it i would get a flash of the PCM.
You want TDE1. You cannot ask for a flash code. They will
give you the latest flash, it will be TDE1. You will not regret
the change. This is what i would do first.

its well worth the drive its a great time but its all ways rediculously hot so take gatorade and or water.

They should not bend you that bad. It would cost more to have a chip burned for the upgrade. Well worth it towing.

will i need to de-tune? and my truck is a OCT 1997 so will it need the reflash?

Do you know what your PCM code is now? Pull the parking brake bracket off, 3 bolts, and take a look at the plastic cover where your chip will go in the future, that will have the PCM code on it
