Is there a difference in torque between a reg cab and a super cab. I was told by a freind that there was because of the driveshaft length. Is this true and if so how big is the difference?
2 stroke, lets be real, the extra 1/3 hp and 4 ft lb it takes to turn a shaft in difference between a reg cab and a crew cab long bed is NOTHING. Youll gain more than that difference in the oil your using. For that matter, aluminum or steel whels would make ten times the difference that a longer shaft would make. Heck, even your tire pressure would make 100 times more difference than the extra 4 lbs that the drive shaft is. I thought we were talking realistic. but if you want specific, I guess we can go there for fun....LOL
First, SPECIFICALLY, it will make a difference, your turning an extra 14 lbs in the shaft, and if you go to a long box crew car, you have carrier bearing resistance. Since rotating mass is a 10 to one difference, the crew cab if it weighed the same in lala land, would have to have the additional HP to keep up with the reg cab, or you would have to add 140 lbs to the reg cab to make it equal. So if your buddy outweighs you in the reg cab as a person, you got him licked. Its nothing worth mentioning, or worrying about unless your going NHRA with your diesel....LOL
But since you said super cab, I dont think that they have a carrier bearing do they?? It would be even closer as well, since the shaft would only weigh 6 to 8 lbs more than a reg cab.
