Ok I can't sit the bench, its just not me....

It IS a fueling issue!! your injectors are fired by high pressure engine oil! engine oil issues directly affect you injectors.

Humor me and plug in your block heater over night.

Honestly it sounds like you have the cold weather romps. This is a normal condition for HEUI injector trucks. It can be "fixed" with lighter weight oil or using the block heater to warm the oil some. The modis isn't fast enough to see all the pressure spikes from the thick oil.

Right now I am using Schaeffer's 9000 5W40 sythetic, I have also used Rotella 5w40 sythetic and Rotella 10W30 all with good results in the winter time. Year round for that matter with exception to the 10W30.

I assume that you also checked all glow plug wire harnesses for shorts? As for the oil, Tim is correct. And no offense, but I could pick about 15 guys on this forum that have forgotten more than any 200 people at international know about the 7.3.

Tim, Lucas does make a synthetic that is SUPPOSEDLY specified for use in the 7.3 and 6.slow. I dont know how it works, has there been a report on it yet? I have heard mixed reviews from the "other" site.....
