Securing A 60Gal Upright Compressor Without Floor Drillling?
I'm probably picking up an IR upright, stationary, 60 gal air compressor next week. I want to use it temporarily in a garage where I can not drill into the concrete/cement floor, or even into the block wall.
What would running it free-standing be like?
I assume it will be on a small pallet when I purchase it.
My 60gallon Craftsman is on the pallet it came on as well. Not bad, not tippy even now that I've replaced the whole compressor and motor with a much larger unit.
Mine is lag bolted to the 4x4's that it came shipped on. They provide a wider stance than the three legs, and help isolate the noise. Best of all was the price.
My home shop's 60 gallon IR 555 is sitting on 4 isolation pads, Grainger # 4C974.
It's much quieter than the pallet and doesn't dance around at all.
I rotated them outward (radially) to give the unit a wider stance.
It's very top heavy.

Thanks for any info.
have a 60 gal on the pallet it came with put some rubber pads 3/8 to 1/2 thick under the pallet on the concrete floor has been that way for 15 years just fine. hope this helps it is bolted to the pallet
I have 2 side by side ore is red and one is grey just sitting on the floor
they have been that way for 10+ years
no fancy hook-ups, one is set a little higher on the cut-in than the other, from factory, so it runs mostly the other is for storage and both will run when the pressure drops to 80 psi, like when running a DA.
sometimes I just turn one off to let the other run so maybe they will both quit at once
there are both single stage 6 hp units one from Lowes the other HD
and both have been apart to repair rods and I keep a spare 6hp motor for when the next motor dies on Sat. afternoon, like the last time
both are noisy and in a seperate room with the old rag washing machine so I don't have to listen to them
