I have an 87 ford 1/2 ton with a 300 and a 4 spd manual that dies on me going down the road. If i try to restart it right away it turns over quicker than normal and won't fire but if i give it a couple minutes it fires right back up and drives fine?! Have a suspiscion that it is fuel related but don't know for sure, any ideas?? Thanks
sounds like a faulty ignition control module but could be a number of things...do a search and limit it to this forum and see what you find...read some of the posts and see if any of the past posts have the same problem description as yours...most likely they will have the fix in the same post.
okay anyone know what you need for a socket to remove the ignition control module bolts? I can't get anything i have to fit in the recesses in the module thats close to the same size as the bolts
Should be 9/32. It needs to be a thinwall socket or nut driver. You can grind a socket or nut driver down to fit. Or you can buy the tool at most auto part stores such as Pep Boys, Auto Zone, Parts America or NAPA.
