I have a 1994 F250 with the 460 and an E4OD that's pretty much dead. I have a couple questions first:
If I go to a junkyard, would I have to find a truck that has a 460, or would other E4OD's bolt up? What would be required in making an E4OD off another motor work on my truck?
Also, would I have to use a 90-94 E4OD only? I heard this from a buddy of mine, because he has a low mileage E4OD out of a 97 F250 with a 460, but said the electronics aren't compatible. Is there any interchangability between these? I don't think I can afford $400+ for an aftermarket trans computer.
buy a e4od from a truck of our body style that is straped to a 460 already. the smaller 302/351 motors have smaller bellhousing size that will not match up. and the diesels also have different bellhousing bolt patterns. Also the newer e4od's have more electronics so make sure its from our body style...
Well... I'll try my best. It's not looking too good though, since these trucks aren't all too common in junkyards, and the local parts places all want ups of $800 for used transmissions.
try car-part.com....good junkyard source...searches nationwide...Ive found lots of great parts on there. Any 460/e4od combo will work from our body style no matter wether its long bed/short bed or ext cab or not...doesnt matter as long as its from these years and is 460/e4od combo
you can have it shipped via ground for pretty cheap from anywhere in the continental US...I would do a nationwide search and search years 90-96 or something like that so you get more parts.
I just searched for a 95 and found 2 pages worth...do a nationwide search...shipping isnt all that bad as long as you dont want it tomorrow and its shipped ground/freight
