The way I read it in on of the postings is that no factory electronic dist. will fit in a 351C. Is this correct? One out of A 351M looks like it should fit. I' m in the US, and it seems we were denied the best stuff so keep this in mind.
No, I work in a parts store and was just checking possibilities. It has a duel point dist. now, but I have trouble getting a decent set of points. I think it's a factory dist. but have found little info on this.(motor out of '73 Mach 1-351c4v, 4 speed) I keep breaking rubbing blocks but everythig seems tight and I'm using lube.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-Mar-02 AT 11:00 AM (EST)]351c, 351m/400, and 460 will interchange. If you work in a parts store, it should be easy enough to look up. I found out by looking in summit and jegs catalogs. They list one dist part number for all the engines above.
This is more just trivia for you guys but... Ford Australia fitted electronic distributors to the aussie made cleveland blocks, although apparently they wont fit into the older blocks anyhow without being turned down.
So I'm looking to put duraspark in my cleveland ,and sourced out a 351m/400m distributor but the oil pump drive is very skinny compared to the cleveland shaft.I'm going to try swapping the gear and drive on bottom ,I'll let you now.
Some of the late '70s Ford electronic ignitions had problems with the control modules when they got hot. Some owners kept a spare one just in case.

I thought it was the other way around. The XD Ford blocks have a smaller hole to prevent owners from installing an early points type distributor. Either way, be aware there is a difference.
I'd recommend the pertronix conversion if your distributor is in good shape. Check the advance specs on the Duraspark distributor. They have slow advance and a lot of duration. Vacuum diaphrams don't interchange.
Please let me know by e-mail.I can't get on this site easy.My e-mail is jason.pranschke@city .ottawa.on.ca I would realy appreciate it.I am in the middle of a rebuild and havn't fiqured what to do with the distributor.I really want to go duraspark11.Thanks.
