i beleive i have mentioned that ol' bessie has all of a sudden become " difficult " to start if she does at all . well the last time she soaked the plugs down , and wouldn't even cooperate . i have been all over this thing tryin' to get a grasp on it .it finally sunk in when i got to thinking about some of my ol' fords with carbs and points . i got home got a small bfh and tapped the float bowl .... it started . they say the mind is the first to go ..............so i geuss im getting senile . dont know why i didnt think of it before ......
Maybe your finally coming out of that flu-induced fog..??
BTW....wouldn't a small bfh be just a sfh ?? what would a sfh weight?
I've got no idea, my smallest is a 16 oz.
Never seen a problem that, properly applied, a bfh couldn't fix. They are a standard part of my tool collection, along with duct tape. The old stuck needle valve trick has started many carbed engines.
yeah gotta have the proper tools and repair materials i " fixed " a rollcage without the track officials knowing once with duct tape so i could run the feature that night , but shhhh !!!! we dont want anyone to know i was that dumb !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I worked as a mechanic for years, mainly doing driveability type work on fuel injected cars. My top three diagnostic tools were a pocket screwdriver, a test light, and a cleverly applied BFH (normally it was the handle of a screwdriver).
Some well applied taps (and in some cases "TAPS") can sure tell you alot
Rig up a spring accuated Thumper for the Carb. Fix it so it trips off the old throttle ****.
When Ol' Melvienya doesn't kick off by the second go around, pull the **** a couple of times and start 'er on up.
NOTE: Since there is on-going debate on the size and description of the Hammer I sub'ed the word "Thumper". I don't want any Bunnies hurt in this operation.
d-mn dick i love yer replies LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'll do that , i got some throttle linkage parts laying 'round here somewhere that'll work just fine for this !!!!!!!! and the small bfh was the first one i could find , a three pound sledge , worked great !!!
DON'T HURT THE BUNNIE'S!!!
I like rabbit's, they're good with mashed potatoe's an gravy!
I guess if your " GOOD " with a hammer, have a steady hand, and exercise some finesse,..you can do with a BFH, what you can't do with a small BFH,...I often just lay a couple of different size's around the general work area, just the threat of using one seems to make things go better..55f350 you know we're just having fun!!
