6.4L Internals and Construction?

I was wondering if anyone had much experiance with the 6.4's internals. Were the head gaskets and head bolts upgraded from those used in the 6.0 (which had a habit of lifting heads and eating gaskets)? What seems to be the hp limit on the rods? I noticed that it uses powdered metal construction instead of traditional drop forging. What are the hp limits of the injectors?

Any other info would be helpful, thanks.

Take a look at the Tuned Dyno Numbers thread in this section -- impressive indeed...

I've been posting in there, but I was hoping for some pics or specific numbers.

The small block is basicaly the same as the 6.oh, but they have fixed the previous oil starving issues the 6.oh had. The connecting rods are larger, stronger rods that have an increased rod bearing diameter. They made the head studs larger then previously and added a few to better secure the heads down. The heads are a completly diffrent design, the piston bowl is design to optimize the high-cylinder pressures delivered by the high-pressure fuel system. The higher pressures provide more efficient combustion, delivering increased power form the comon rail fuel system.

Does this mean the 6.4 has headstuds or do they still have the TTY bolts like the 6.0?

That would be a good piece of info to have. I'd like to see some pics of the engine being built.

I wouldn't think so, but the bolts must have been improved. The 6.4 runs enough boost stock to lift the heads on a 6.0.
