Ok so I want to know/ranting
From what I have been hearing is that Ford is going to get rid of the PSD and move on to an inhouse motor, in 2010. What I want to know is why CAT or Ford hasent jumped in on the deal. I think it would be sweet to have a CAT C7 under the hood of a Super Duty. 7.2L It's a little bigger than the Cummins motor but I think it could work. Anyone else want to see a CAT in the 2010 Fords? That's just me saying I would LOVE to have a CAT in my Ford.

Is it true that Dodge is going to drop the Cummins in 2010 for a Mercedes Diesel?
-Alex-
couple reasons I could think of
I don't think Cat wants to go through the EPA crap for light trucks
an inline six with ford short nose the enginewould be in the front seat
I don't think these trucks can stand another pound on the front axle
wouldn't surprise me to see mercedes engines in dodge, don't know when cummins contract runs out
Well as others have said, weight and size would be the #1 reason. I know everyone here would love to see a c7 or a 3208, or a 3406, but in all seriousness, all 3 are junk compaired to a 3304 or 3306. (thinking 3304 for the 1/2 ton market) The 3300 series is also a ton easier to work on. Weight wise, and length wise the 3306 would go, however it is a tad underpowered for what everyone is wanting. It would however last for quite a few miles, and be a snap to work on.
