Talking warranty time!

Hey everyone. Its time for my truck to go in for some warranty work. Nothing major but with 99k on the clock better get it done. My issues are cracked y- pipe for sure, surge at idle (icp sensor?) and i would like to get the inductive heating flash for cold starts. Anything else to get? I have no other issues that I know of. I put my cat back on but have no muffler will this cause any issues with warranty? Programmer has been removed for couple of months due to the cold weather. Im just trying to get a game plan before I go so I can tell them what I want done. Any help or advice would be great. First truck with a warranty so im new to this. Thanks

If you have any oil leaks, now would be the time!

All depends on the dealer. Some don't care and some due.

Yes i just got through putting the cat on! Still no muffler dont know if that matters??? Could somebody shed some light on the inductive heating flash and the surging at idle. Ive read that is the icp sensor but just want to make sure. The dealership im going to ship fairly mod friendly. My buddy took his 03 there with a 5" stack so I dont think they care. There are others in the area that are very strict though. Cant take it where I bought it. A honda dealer bought it out. Its still a ford dealship but they fired all the ford employees and brought in there own. It seeps a bit of oil in the rear main area mabey accumulates a drop in 6500 to 7000 miles. Ive heard horror stories about getting that fixed! Thanks again Il check back tomorrow. Gotta go to work.

Have you considered purchasing the 7yr/200k warranty? If you were, remember that, you have to buy it while you are still under the 5yr/100k

I'd ask them to check the truck for any recalls. ICP harness, EB harness, definetly have them check out that leak, also have them do a compression test on your heads to make sure that the gaskets are still good. You can also try to get them to check your balljoints, sway bar end links, air and fuel plumbing, and whatever else you can think of. Well, all of the above mentioned things you can check yourself, but it's nice to have a pro do it. I'd say you can leave the muffler off, it just kills the noise, got nothing to do with emissions.

It depends on the dealer that you buy it from, but I have seen it as low as about $1350. Now of course the 7 years is really just adding 2 more years to the original 5 year diesel engine warranty.

Talking

Thanks for the help! Il write all that stuff down and take it with me. One thing I did not consider with the warranty is the 5 year part of it. Mine was built 3/03 so does the 5 years start then or from the date of original purchase? If thats the case where so I find that out at? i bought the exhaust from ebay thinking it had no provision for the cat but when it came I had to use it. So later I purchased an offroad cat delete from RPM outlet. I didnt think the cat would bolt back up but when I got it all apart and looked over it worked. All I had to do is get a 3.5" band clamp to attach it to the back of the exhaust and bolt the kittie in place. I was relieved to say the least! keep the replys coming every bit will help me when I take it in. Thanks again. oh ya most of the front end parts are new so thats a plus. Ball joints were a pita!!!!!

I finally took my truck in and have it back now! It was there 7 days. They did the Y-pipe, icp sensor, ebp sensor, ficm , egr valve (I think). Took longer than they said but the wrong Y-pipe was orderd and they had a bolt break when removing the turbo. Im very pleased with the results so far no smell in the cab. It starts easier with the inductive heating flash. Best 100$ ive spent in a while. Thanks for the help everyone!
