I have a question. It started out as just when I left of the throttle my 6.0 would make a slight tea kettle sound and then stop. Now its getting worse and worse to the point where it makes the sound when I'm pulling a hill and use a little more throttle and it takes longer for it to stop making the noise when I let off of the throttle. Is this when the tea kettle sound comes about and does it mean my head gaskets are shot? Thanks!
If you want to know for sure if the tea kettle sound is coming from the degas bottle then do a pressure test on it. If it is getting up to around 16 PSI or greater then you may have a concern. BTY is that 13.96 for the quarter?
Yeah, its 13.96 in the 1/4. It was done with Spartans Ultra Comp tune for a non studded engine. Also with a very hard launch in 4wd. Can a dealer do a pressure test on it or how would I perform it?

Go to the parts store and get a pressure tester.. Prob like $80-$140.. All it is, is a cap that you put on your degas bottle, with a little pump.. You pump it up til the vacuum gauge on it says 16lbs.. Then you sit and wait.. Watch it for bout 15-20 mins.. If it drops you got a leak somewhere..
Yes you can go to a parts store and get a pressure tester. You put it on the degas bottle and then drive the truck like when you get the tea kettle sound and check the pressure to see if compression is being pumped into the coolant. The normal range of the coolant system should not exceed 16 PSI. I think the normal range is around 10 to 13 PSI. There is also a kit that checks for C02 in the coolant indicating that combustion is entering the coolant. You could also look on the internet for these kits.
there are a lot of posts on this also clips on some of the posts. do a search and youll get a better idea. I currently have the same prob. and brought it to the dealer they said it is normal. Many on here say they have it too dont know what it is dealer told them it is normal but others have said it is the head gaskets. I did a pressure test and i am loosing somewere. Hopefully headgaskets so i can get studs. It is going in again for a pressure test on the tenth so well see what happens. will let you know. good luck.
