If you have 4 stock cats and go to 2 high flow cats it will be louder and will give you a little more power.
Is it worth it? That's up to you.
For me?Yes it was worth every penny and I got Bassani cats at $160.each!
Most go with Magnaflow cats. You can get them on Ebay for about 60 bucks each!
I do have 4 stock cats. '97 f-150. if i replace all 4 cats with only 2 hp cats, can i still pass emissions and will that make my check engine light come on?
It depends on what emissions test they do in your state! The high flow cats are supposed to be emission legal in most states.
In DE they just hook to your computer and as long as there is no stored codes it will pass.
If you put your 02s as close as you can to were they were stock. You should not get a light.
the high flow cats are emission legal here in GA. But I'm wondering if I will have to replace all 4 cats or just have only 2 so my truck will run right?
Im running 1, 3" catco ($50 shipped on ebay) I ran the truck with straight pipe and then the cat and the sound change was minimal. Also seems liek the truck runs better without the 10 gallon barrel under there.
yes, i definately plan on getting headers. i've already converted the factory setup to a true dual and added 2 single-chamber 40 series flows with turn downs. so i figure why not go all the way with the cats and headers. did your truck pass emissions with only 2 cats? what brand headers works well on a '97?
I'm past due for inspection now. The motors out. I'll find out when we get it back together.
My engine builder says it will pass.He dose it all the time!
I bought 2 Catco cats from a friend who only used them for a short time and now I will have dual exhaust using the stock manifolds,I will also be running 2 cherry bombs and later I will add headers,
