Well, i tried shimming the regulator following a pdf link i got here. Upon installing a 4-40 bolt ground down to the thickness of a nickel (.065)and starting my truck, pressure went clear over and pegged the gauge. So i have been removing material from the bolt head to the point where the bolt is now thinner than a dime, (.040 aprox) and the lowest i have been able to get the pressure is 80lbs. I cant seem to be able to bring it to the 70psi range. I ground one bolt to the point where it just didnt make a differnce if it was there or not. pressure was still 55.
Is there something i am doing wrong here, or what???
My stock pressure was at 55psi and went down to 50 wot.
The current shim now is putting out 82psi 60 wot.
I do have a Cali truck... so not sure if that has anything to do with it.
When you're working in the thousandths range with a grinder, it's tough to be extremely accurate. I think you're going to have to continue with the trial and error approach until you hit the sweet spot. I would suggest trying to split the difference between the "dime thickness" and the "no difference" bolts by going to about 2/3 the thickness of a dime. If the relationship is linear, which it is not, half-way would plant you in the upper 60's, so the 2/3 mark should put you in the lower 70's.
Is there such a wide difference from one truck to another. According to the instructions, here http://community.webshots.com/album/38099902LAqFDW .075 should give you about 75psi. I am way under that and only at about .030 now, and still i am getting 80psi.
im stumpped, and to top it off, the rubber seal on the return line is not sealing anymore.... do you guys know if this can be purchased somewhere other than the dealer.???

First stop where you are. 80PSI is fine for idle, and 65 is great for WOT. The thing is you had a very healthy pump to start with. most folks start with a pump that is at 50 idle and drops to 35 WOT that is why when ITP sells a shim kit they include three different shims(you have to call them for this its not on the website) so you can find the "sweet spot" for your truck.
The rubber seal kit can be bought from International, it is part no. (1P)1831296C92, or you can go to a hydraulics store and get a 5/16 OD flex fitting sleeve.
So I'm ok with 80-82 idle psi??? I thought i read somewhere it is not recommended to go over 75psi.
Thks for the seal info. Stealership wants $18 for a 3pc kit.
i think you should be fine, cause remember you are not constantly running at 80PSI, when driving you're more around the 70ish point.
there are also folks running around with more than 80PSI .
