I have the ramair, it runs out where the toe hook is; actually the toe hook is removed
then it is placed inside the snorkal outlet and bolted back on. It is a PITA to do by yourself. I notice the effect when I am on the interstate, that is where the majority of my driving is done.

my fear with that ram air setup is water. I take my truck off-road and occasionally there is water up to the bottom of the doors.
my Volant sucks from the fender and the front, but I'm scared that if I were to hit a hole hard enough, the water would channel right into the box and up the intake
I just installed mine today. I need to play with it a little since the tube hits the upper cowl and grounds out big time. Sucks under throttle. A little disappointed in the quality. I cut to trim the opening for the MAF sensor because it wouldn't even fit in their hole let alone line the screws up. Wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't 20 degrees outside!
NO, it sucks right now because it's grounded out and hitting the dash, so it makes it sound very loud and annoying. I'm hoping I can correct it tomorrow before my sons birthday party! I'll update the thread after I correct the ground outs and see how it is.

what is grounded out, and what is hitting the dash?
My Volant box is of very high quality...my only issue was bolting the box to the top of the fender...took a few minutes, but easy to resolve
I don't understand either how any part of the Volant would hit the dash, unless the 04 is a lot diferent from my 06. And like tylus, mine was of excellent quality and works great. The sensor was an easy and exact fit. The only hiccup was having to move a small wiring harness fuse block long enough to set the Volant filter box in place. Once there, the fuse box went easily back into its mount.
The tube is hitting the dash right about the throttle body. I'm going to shorten the 3 1/2 coupling so I'm hoping this will lower the tube enough to clear the dash. Can't say anything else about the MAF other than it wouldn't fit until I enlarged the hole. It looked like the opening was partially melted, so I was wondering if it got too hot when they installed the threaded inserts. Wasn't a big deal, but didn't expect to have any issues for the price I paid.

sounds like you may have gotten a bad casting...send it back for a new one. the intake isn't something you should 1/2 a$$. especially around the maf
mine has about 2" of clearance between the firewall edge and the tube...something funky going on there
I was thinking about getting the Volant as well. I have not heard about the Power core filter though, anyone got anymore info on it??? I appreciate it.
Here's the problem I am having. My 2004 is a 5.4L 3V. Even if I just place the tube on top of the throttle body, it hits the dash. I have emailed Volant and will call Tech Support Monday. Will keep everyone posted..
