Same here in Tampa, it was 35* and I have a remote start when I came back out to the window heard the truck idling high. I know that the PCM adjusts the idle based on enviromental temps also.
William, Are you sure its different for our Excursions, I located both wires for the high idle mod under the dash of my excursion, I just havent done the High Idle Mod, because I am waiting to install my F650 dash panel.
Were they in the same locations, and same (Orange) colors as the SuperDuties? ... do tell!
Just did this mod today. I have extra wire and pins from a SD wire harness if needed. I used a 7/64" drill bit to drill the hole for the wire to go, going from the pin side to the wire side. I used a hand drill to be extra careful (a drill bit in a holder that you spin with your fingers). I ran the wire to the white (already supplied in the harness) wire that runs to the inside of the truck under the dash. Then I attached that wire to a switch which I attached the switched power (the white/blue wire by the OBDII connector) to also. So now I can flip the switch and have high idle.
Thank you to William_04_X for the "How-To" and the pictures. Everything was right on! A fairly easy mod, little scary drilling into the computer connector but everything was straight forward. Need this mod considering DFW is having the coldest weather in 20 years.
With the truck in Park, foot not on the brake, flip the switch the truck climbs to 1200 RPM. If you step on the brake the truck goes back down to normal idle, when you let off the brake (truck still in park) the idle climbs back up to 1200. That is all I have tried. I haven't tried anything with the parking brake. Hope that helps.
I know this activates the SEIC high idle, has anyone tried doing the Batter Charge Protect circuit instead? Anybody know what pin it would be on the harness plug? I think the BCP would fit my needs better than the SEIC.
AND...
Besides Radio Shack... what brand are those switches?? I really like them, as they seem more fitting to the rounded panel they are mounted onto. And, what "local auto parts store" were they purchased at? Maybe I can order them online (in colors...etc).
Still waiting to hear on the EX mod, and interior wiring (if it was true, and worked).
