[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Oct-02 AT 07:48 AM (EST)]Yes I replaced it with a new one. But it was the same part # of the on that was on the eng. The orginal configuration had a man trans mission. I changed it out for an Auto (C6)
Yes Thats what I thought. When I rebuilt the eng(see gallery)I put a new one on. But I have a vibration at low RPM at idle goes away around 1000.The eng only has 3hrs and maybe 10 Miles on it. My Cam is a Crane 272 grind I would not think that would do it. Thanks Art
I hate to bring this up this late in the game but the machine shop should have recommended that you bring the flexplate, crankshaft and balancer in and have them balanced as a unit. IMO it's worth the extra $ to have it done even on a mild rebuild.
"All 335-series engines are externally balanced with a 28 oz-in imbalance on the crankshaft (the same as 302 and 351W engines up to 1982)."
This is straight from Bubba's website.
For the sake of longevity, and to prevent a flywheel from biting your feet, you may want to replace the damper and flexplate.
I hate to confirm the bad news for you, but yes, you need to switch the flexplate. The Jeg's part #564-N93002X external balance looks like the right part.
You never said exactly which harmonic balancer you used (part number?), but if your engine had the correct balancer before, then it was for external balance.
