Nah I didnt have to mess with it. only had to make the one cut at the top. funny thing is i made the one cut up top and couldnt get it out. so i was on it down below with the sawzall and the blade hung up as i was making a second cut and the dp started shaking back n forth and the thing nearly fell out on my head and about knocked me out cold. mines in and went pretty easy. the pinch weld mod was simple. so its inhaling and exhaling alot easier now. spools right up.

Good deal. That's how mine was one cut at the top and it came right out and I got about a 1/4" gap in between the firewall and uppipe

On the new uppipe and the firewall or the pinch seam that seems to be causing people to have to bend it out of the way?

I only read one thread mentioning header wrap. I was thinking that it would be a good idea and planned on doing it before I put mine in. Is everybody else doing this and not mentioning it, or not bothering with it. Any opinions?

I thought about it, but I don't know if I will or not. The only reason I was gonna do it was for noise insulation. The DP seems to increase the in-cab noise a little, but it's not too bad.

I was thinking to prevent undue heat by the transmission and even the cab of the truck.

I consider a sawzall to be a requirement for any tool collection

Well, I finally got around to getting the DP and 4" exhaust on the old dually today. What a difference! It did take me most of the day, and a few sawzall blades but defnitely not the worst project I've done by far. I ended up making 4 or 5 cuts in the pinch weld with the sawzall and removing a small piece of the heat shield (so I could access the pinch weld) which I re-secured with a self tapping sheet metal screw. Removing the old "cobra head" was the worst part for me, I ended up cutting it into 3 pieces. This may be in part to the exhaust brake I have installed on the back of my turbe, it has a vacuum operated cylinder that is mounted to the turbo and I left it all in place so accessing that area was a little tough.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread, it helped me a ton!

Regarding the comments about justifying additional tools and even so-called "modifications" to the Wife...none of these are optional. They are necessary corrections of engineering errors. It is unfortunate that some of our trucks need more correction than others...
