[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Nov-02 AT 06:56 AM (EST)] Is there a known method used to straighten warped valve cover flanges? The ones on my 351M will not seal, regardless what I try. The weather is only getting colder by the week here and I've had to remove/clean/reinstall the covers three times since September.
The cover bolts were over torqued at some point, and only contact the heads on the points which the bolt holes are located at. Any advice would be appreciated. I'd like to avoid getting new ones if practical.
Thanks for the response. I didn't have on hand anything like you used or suggested, so I worked with a 4" C clamp and hammer! Set the cover down on concrete and placed the rigid part of the clamp in the channel, then worked my way around wailing on it with the hammer. Seemed to do the job, but probably not as effective as your method..
