ok i am new to this site and this era model of trucks. i just bout a 52 and an extra cab and 48 front clip for $100 and its my first project of this size. i wont even start on it for some time. my first question is what all types of sub frams or front clips are good to use? im wanting to keep everything all ford parts on this build. the friend i bought it from is a hot rodder and has built several hot rods and had a few in magazines and he is helping me get into it. i will also be keeping an eye out for some vaiour parts. thanks
welcome to the site...you are in the same boat as i am ...and everyone is very helpfull on here....if u do a search you will find some good advice about front stubs...https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-a-swaper.html
is a post i made and somone put a chart on there of good stubs u can use and there dimensions
thanks guess its time to go to the junk yard and see what i can find. well the truck(s) are all in peices and i have 2 frames and 4 sets of front springs and one rear axle(not using)
Kind of sounds like you're jumping in with both feet, why not stick with stock until you've driven it a while and seen what you want to change? Subframes are a big piece of work.
i will a have a mustang project and a blue 92 flareside thats my baby, and im going next weekend to start hauling the peices home. how well does an aeostar front end fit?
I agree with Ross. Why not try a stock frame and build from there?
I'm using a stock frame, added power steering, power brakes and disc brakes. You can but the stock front end fairly cheap and they are cheap and easy to rebuild. But if you want to but on a newer frame you will have to do alot of fab work to get them to fit right.
Welcome to the site and good luck.

the frame width on our trucks in front is 32". I believe the Aerostar is better suited to the 34" front end like that of '53-56. However, it should be just a matter of 2" removed, and making the rack and pinion fit. I was gonna go with the Aerostar when I first started researching. I then opted to go with the stock beam axle set-up and reverse eye springs. Oh, and it sounds like you got everything in parts like me, lol....on top of a zillion other projects.
thanks everyone, im sure i will have tons of questions. i would just stick with the stock front but i dont have the spindles or hubs or shock mounts and not to sure about the straight axle
