Does anyone know where i can buy genuine ford touch up paint? I'd rather not get anyting from the parts store again, since the last time i did it didnt match quite right. Thanks!
Go to your local Ford dealer that has a body shop and see if they have some. Sometimes they'll give you a little plastic bottle with a brush attached to the lid like finger nail polish.
Unless you go to the dealer paint shop or a paint store and have it matched just for your vehicle you will not get a perfect match. Each batch of paint mixed at the factory comes slightly different. It is impossibe to get a perfect even on a new vehicle unless you get very lucky at a parts store.
My local ford dealer doesnt have a paint shop, but i'd guess now that i think about it i'd be suprised if they couldnt order it for me. Ford used to inclue a bottle of touch up paint with every vehicle.... i still have one for my 1994 emerald green f150.
Colorrite paint might be able to give you a color match. This is where I buy the paint for my jet ski. Last year I bought a good 4 stage HVLP paint spray system and the first time the paint did not cure properly (paint was soft) but it had a beautiful mirror finish with no orange peel. So I had to sand it off and start over and the second paint job cured properly.
Painting your truck or car is a lot of work and you will spend about 90% of your time preparing the surface for painting. The painting is easy but how well the paint adheres to the surface will depend on how effective the preparation of the surface to be painted.
I use paintscratch.com to mail order my touchup paint. Excellent site that has factory paint codes. I've bought touchup paint for the last 4 vehicles I've owned from this site and all have matched perfectly.
Not trying to bend your thread, but touching up a painted bumper is becoming tough. The paint code only matches the body paint, but the charcoal bumper color isn't listed anywhere. Mine has a ton of rock chips on it.

Most auto part stores paint sections with truck paints and you could probemly find a close match, you would be better off painting the entire bumper anyway.
